"One of Us" is a song written by Eric Bazilian (of The Hooters) and originally released by Joan Osborne.

The song deals with various aspects of belief in God by asking questions inviting the listener to consider how they might relate to God, such as "Would you call [God's name] to his face?" or "Would you want to see [God's face] if seeing meant that you would have to believe?" The name of the song comes from the question contained in the refrain, "What if God was one of us?"

Released in March 1995 on the album Relish (produced by Rick Chertoff), it hit the top 40 in November of the same year. With this song, Osborne received one of many Grammy nominations in 1995, including Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, but failed to win. One year later Prince covered the song for his 'Emancipation' LP.

Around January 1996, "One of Us" hit the top 10. Finally in March of 1996 "One of Us" climbed to #1 on Rock On The Net's ARC Weekly Top 40 and stayed there for 2 weeks. Its peak chart position on the Billboard Hot 100 was #4.

Personally when I say religion sucks it applies to most religions. Christianity probably takes the blunt of it since I live in a predominantly christian country, but I don't discrimiate, ignorance is ignorance whatever name it's given

Sackari, what is wrong with you? By saying "Agnostics are people who are weakminded", you are proving that the only one who is "weakminded" is YOU.

An agnostic is someone who doesn't necessarily believe in God, but doesn't completely deny the possibility that there is a God.

You may not have the same views on religion and/or God as someone who is agnostic, but you can't be ignorant to the fact that there are other viewpoints out there that differ from your own. And don't judge people.

People have religion to help ease the pains of life by saying there's something else out there after death. Trying to tell a person who is religious that there is no God doesn't help anyone. Everyone is open to their opinions and you should respect that. I for one am agnostic, anything else under my book would be called ignorant because we really don't know why anything works or how it got here. But I shut up and listen when someone is trying to use religion to explain something **Respect
