Victoria - O magnum mysterium

Back

O magnum mysterium et admirabile sacramentum, ut animalia viderent Dominum natum jacentem in praesepio.
O beata Virgo, cujus viscera meruerunt portare Dominum Jesum Christum. Alleluia!

O great mystery, and wonderful sacrament, that the animals should see the new-born Lord lying in a manger. Blessed is the Virgin whose womb was worthy to bear Christ the Lord. Alleluia

O Gran Misterio, y Maravilloso Sacramento,
Que los animales hayan visto Al Señor recién nacido yacer en un pesebre. Alabada seas, o Virgen, pues tu Vientre mereció llevar a Jesús Cristo, nuestro Señor, ¡Aleluya!

Great performance. I love the balance of the four parts.

This song always gives me the chills...it's amazing.

I am downloading this whilst imagining the shepherds and the Three Wisemen came before Our Lord laying in a manger with the host of angels singing such melodious and glorious melody of praise to the King of Kings. A great Christmas piece. Don't you think so?

A Men to that! I'm a Bass too, and I really like the first "Et Admirable, Sacramentum."

I had to sing this for districts- not a big fan of it, really. I feel like this really doesn't hold a candle to the Lauridsen version.

I love this version of o Magnum Mysterium. I feel like it's much more somber.

I am obsessed with this song. I promise not ot listen to it too much but I love the part between 0.50 and 0.55!

This and Morten Lauridsen's arrangement are my favorites for O Magnum Mysterium. This one for the dark mysterious feel, and the other for the profound joy that shimmers in every chord cluster.
