naaah mate - Americans build cars with big engines, but that engines typical V8 have little power (HP)but high engine cubic capacity enabe high torque and engine liftime is extremly long.Look mate, show me any European car with Full European construction egine who can work about 50 years...maybe Diesel Engine MAN firm, but it's only Truck engine. But americans made only good engines nothing else...

Americans don't know how to build cars. They build big engines with lots of horsepower but that doesnt result in good cars. Thats why you see more Japanese and European cars in America than u c American cars in Europe and Japan. Most of American cars are for internal market, and due to the oil prices americans are turning their backs to the gasguzzling cars that GM, Ford, Chrysler, etc produce. In my opinion Japanese cars are the most reliable. German cars? The best cars.

my old boss had a couple of toyota landcruisers form 85-86 and they were running fine aand he lived on a sheep farm in south australia best motors strong as a bloody tank

Well my neighbor's got an ugly brown one from '89 with almost 300k on it, and still running fine. And on durability Toyota is definately the best. But I must say those 70/80's american trucks are tough as well!
