According to their Wikipedia for this song (obviously doesn't mean it's true, but at least a source) that Foo Fighters released a video for Generator of them playing a live performance in Austrailia. and masked the video with the studio version.

And this song was a single in Austrailia, so it would make sense.

they are live for all there shows, the real version is on here its just the guy that posted the video has dubbed it
