The American Denial of Global Warming

Back

Polls show that between one-third and one-half of Americans still believe that there is "no solid" evidence of global warming, or that if warming is happening it can be attributed to natural variability. Others believe that scientists are still debating the point. Join scientist and renowned historian Naomi Oreskes as she describes her investigation into the reasons for such widespread mistrust and misunderstanding of scientific consensus and probes the history of organized campaigns designed to create public doubt and confusion about science. These threads often feature arguers with strong opinions, a fondness for ridicule, but little grasp of climate change, whether it involves CO2 forcing, solar effects, or the like. It's tempting to reciprocate the sarcasm, but that does little to help the occasional viewer who comes here hoping to learn something. One alternative is to email me questions. I'll answer some directly (and politely), and cite authoritative sources for all. I mention it because some have already found it useful.

another great quote from an AGW idiot

"this earth will get along fine without us, just like it gets along fine without the dinosaur, the cockroach will inherit the land and the whale will get back to enjoying its swimming pool, without having to play tag with scientists. What is everybody so afrain of? Death is unavoidable "

I notice that evertime an econut has a hard time with a debate they try to insult people or talk over them - pretty common

I know the left wing would love to get a carbon credit tax under the UN but the rest of us will keep fighting you every step of the way

anyway - can we get a little wartming please - I'm freezing my ass off

You mean if for instance, I were to say: Oh look! Its tWeedle dee and tWeedle dum! but after reading your comments that would be clearly... redundant.

Let's see who are the deniers.
Denies that the earth goes through Natural climatic cycles.
Denies that we have more Arctic sea Ice.
Denies that we have not warmed as Predicted.
Denies access to data for verification.
Denies Antarctica is not melting.
Denies Greenland is not melting.
Denies that Ellesmere Ice shelf had collapse 40 years ago and is not 4500 years old.
Denies that Alternative Energy is a Bust.
Denies that the Polar bears are not in Danger of extinction.
wilbert1755 (January 7, 2009 at 5:07 pm)
Denies that Arctic Summer ice melt in Summer.
Denies that CO2 is not a pollutant.
Denies that CO2 is not a major Gas.
Denies that the Earth is not like a Greenhouse.
Denies...denies...denies

did you know that co2 makes up just .03% of the atmosphere?

less than a single percent

all life on earth depends on it

that co2 is the least important greenhouse gas - in fact water vapor does most of the warming followed by methane?

the ocean produces most of the oxygen on earth - NOT the rainforrests - and that the ocean uses co2 to do so?

fatal levels are closer to 5% - no where near where levels are at

wilbert1755 - Your comments make it quite clear you don't know anybody in the scientific community. - I'm curious, do you subscibe to any particular global warming denial theory? Or just any and all of them?

read edwin black's book 'war against the weak' and hopefully people who believe in the global warming hype will realize that they're in eugenics denial

Well known CNN personality Lou Dobbs is putting his foot down and making a clear stand on global warming. Not only The Huffington Post but apparently (it appears) CNN is softening it's stance on global warming. A quickly cooling earth is debating quite successfully with Al Gore. Al Gore avoided debating Václav Klaus. But he can't run from the earth. The earth is winning the debate!
