Michael Crichton, STATE OF FEAR if you are interested in this subject, great read and gained a lot of knowledge on this subject.

2008 and 2009 set all kinds of new record lows. The average temp was some ~.5C lower. It is yet another sign that global warming isn't all its cracked up to be.

This cycle has been going on long before the 1970s. Just search for the BMI article on fire and ice to see over 100 years of global cooling/warming scares printed in the media.

We should see reports telling us to start worrying about global cooling again within the decade or so.

I've been to the Arctic circle in Alaska, so that should definitely count.

The minimum temperatures in certain areas might reach close to -70C, but those are extreme conditions that are in no way representative of the whole. Might as well claim that water won't melt in the US because of the temps in Alaska.

Actually, using September dates The Cryosphere Today shows the same imagery as the NASA page. That maybe because the NASA article says that The Cryosphere Today first reported the low.

People are drawn to the current sensationalism and always forget the past. This is why everybody has forgotten about all the government sponsored scientists and media hype in the 1970's about GLOBAL COOLING!!! Yes people, remember all that fear mongering in the 70's about the ice age that is coming which will cover New York in 15ft of ice by year 2000? I guess that's not news anymore huh? Well neither is global warming as in 2007 & 2008 the glaciers in the north pole grew!!
