Great video.. Totally helps a noob out like me ;) I just bought my first firearm, a Glock 17 a week ago and have been confused on how to clean/lube it. I bought a Otis Micro Kit 9mm today. Does anyone know if that is everything I need to sufficiently clean my Glock? Is the Otis Oil good? Thanks in advanced

I've been cleaning and lubricating my pistols and rifles for years and have never considered using grease.
Today, I followed your advice and wonder why I've not done it before. My Glock 29 is like a new pistol. I've used standard oils, but they've never worked as well as HT grease.
Thanks a ton for this information!
Although, do you have any suggestions on wheel grease that doesn't smell like complete ass? ;)

how often do you need to lube a glock
JamesYeager (May 31, 2008 at 10:38 pm)
That is a tough question. If it is kept in a clean place and never fired the grease will always be there. In dusty dirty places it will need to be cleaned just to get the cob webs out. If you are shooting it the grease will last several thousand rounds and will need to be replaced when you clean the gun.

I've never used greese before. I'll try it next time I lube my Glock 19. But this video explains why some new guns are packed in greese (My friends chinese SKS).
JamesYeager (May 31, 2008 at 10:39 pm)
That SKS was in Cosmoline and it is a waxy grease that is to protect guns that are stored for long periods. It isn't for lubrication.
